Touring The Coffee Planation's of Costa Rica

Marta our local coffee expert has been busy over the last few months visiting various coffee plantations in the mountainous region of Costa Rica to secure us our next batch of coffee beans.

The coffee harvest this year in Costa Rica wasn't as bountiful as it normally is so we had some trouble finding a local Finca with quality coffee beans to sell. The Montana De Diamante specialty coffee beans which we already stock in our shop had been snapped up by big businesses in Japan before it came to market but don't worry we've pre ordered some beans from the next harvest. So we thought we'd use this opportunity to expand our coffee selection and try some new beans in our shop.

This is where having our ' man on the ground ' proves so beneficial ! Marta's regional and cultural knowledge, in addition to her discerning palate, means we can succeed where others, given the supply difficulties, are accepting the indisputable coffee shortage.

Here is Marta in the artisan town of Sarchi which is famous for making tradition handmade vibrant oxcarts.

These carts were used to transport coffee beans and other goods to markets and ports. Today they are mainly used for decorative purposes and celebrations and parades.
